Beads Of Enlightenment

-----------------------------------------------------------
Mukhi Beads

In Indonesia and India there grows a plant said to have been generated by the holy tears of Shiva. From this plant grows the Eye of Shiva, or mukhi, complex faceted seeds that symbolize the link between heaven and earth and are considered by devotees of Shiva to be the most potent manifestations of the cosmic force. But mukhi beads, also called miracle beads, develop in a variety or sizes and colors and have been used for thousands of years by people seeking empowerment and enlightenment. The beads are said to posses the ability to calm the soul and bring health to the body without causing any harm. The positive energy of mukhi is so gentle that the young and the old are encouraged to wear them or use them in meditation.

Each mukhi is blessed with a unique set of auspicious properties, including health, success, and enlightenment. The "ek" mukhi, or one facet bead, brings wealth by calling on the goddess Lakshmi while the "do" mukhi, or two facet bead, inspires spiritual power and concentration. The Gauri Shankar mukhi, which appears as two multi-facet beads that have been joined, is said to fulfill all desires and to grant utter contentment. Ancient yogis and monks found that merely observing, holding or wearing the beads, individually or in combinations, caused both a heightened mental energy and intense feelings of tranquility, which allowed them to endure lengthy periods of deep meditation. Meditating with mukhi has a positive effect on both the body and mind through bioelectrical energy. It is recommended that you sit straightly in the lotus position or any comfortable posture, facing north or east, and hold the bead or string of beads (mala) in your right hand. As you either grip the single bead or pull the beads toward you using the thumb and forefinger, chant the mantra of your choice.

The potent energy of the beads may not be felt at first because of the mukhi's gentleness, but after a time, positive change will be realized. Though the rarest of mukhi is that which has twenty-one facets and the largest mukhi are considered the most auspicious, all of the beads, including those joined together, posses beneficial properties. Meditating with mukhi, which call upon the blessing of Shiva, is a simple and beautiful way to pacify negative energy and to take comfort in the blessings yet to come.
