Spring Colors
Spring is about color. The season spreads a visual feast before us in every shade and hue of all the colors in the rainbow. Color is healing. Different colors have different healing properties, but all colors have the ability to make us feel better. We respond to color on an emotional level and spiritual level. Spring colors call us to renew and replenish our souls. In the fresh light of spring, colors are illuminated, greens are iridescent, reds burn, pinks blush, and yellows glow. Even the blue of the sky appears brighter.
Green, the first color to break through the winter gray, is the color of healing. It shows itself to be about growth and renewal in the tiny, bright green shoots that break through at the first inkling of spring. Even before the season's pink blossoms appear, green paves the way with buds and leaves in every shade from chartreuse to turquoise. Fields of soft, green grass call us to lie down and connect to the earth. We fall easily into peaceful rest, even sleep embraced in a sea of green. It balances our emotions and brings a feeling of calmness.
We draw energy from the reds of Iceland poppies, geraniums, fuchsia, roses, and so many more flowers that the season blesses us with. Red is the color of vitality and power. On the other hand, blue cools and calms our senses. A deep blue mountain lake speaks of truth, serenity, and harmony. A field of bright orange California poppies evokes gentle feelings of warmth for orange is a color used to increase immunity. Lavender elevates our spirituality in color as well as scent. Likewise gazing on a purple sunset inspires our soul, giving us clarity and enhanced intuition. A dandelion may be just a weed to some, but its sunny yellow flower can clear a foggy head. Yellow is the color of intellect and mental stimulation.
Spring has so many colors and the combinations in sunrises, meadows, oceans, and our own gardens awaken our senses. Colors offer a beautiful visual healing. We may vary individually in our response, but we do respond.
